Tournament Tryouts

Region 91 is announcing the final dates for Tournament Tryouts for our spring tournament teams. Tournament teams are picked from players who attend tryouts, and will be competing in several tournaments in Southern California. The level of play will challenge your players and help them become stronger and more confident, all while retaining the spirit of and organization membership in AYSO. There is some cost involved, but it is much more affordable than club teams.

There will be two days of tryouts for players to attend: October 9th and 30th, both 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Tryouts will be on the Lancaster National Soccer Center WEST field 3. Players should bring shin guards and a ball, as well as wear their regular season jersey. See the flyer below for more information.

Week Seven Complete

Seven weeks down, and you can see it in the teams. Every player is showing great improvements, which is one of the reasons we're out there. However, it would be nice if the weather would make up its mind. One would think it was Septemebr with the heat we had on Saturday. Nevertheless, we got through the day. One thing we have noticed is that kids are starting to lose their socks. While they are supposed to wear the socks given out with the uniforms, we understand that sometimes a sock dissappear. If this happens, we ask that you try to find socks that are close to the original color if possible. This helps the players identify their teammates on the field, because sometimes all they see is another player's socks when they are attacking the ball.

As always, team standings have been updated, as well as Volunteer Points. At this point in the season, you should have earned about 14 points from refereeing. You earn two points for being a (center) referee, 1 point as assistant referee, and 1 point for refereeing VIP games. For teams that are just shy of the points they need, you can still get the points in time. Also, coaches please to turn in your assistant coach and team parent form to the Coach Administrator. They need to be registered volunteers in eAYSO, so make sure they are in the system and have had their ID verified by the CVPA. Remind your referees to sign-up for games so you don't miss the opportunity to go to playoffs!

Skills Clinic November 2nd

Region 91 will be having our fourth and final Skills Clinic for the season on Wednesday, November 2nd. We will be having the clinic on the East Fields, and they will take place during regular parctice time for some teams. If you want your players to get some extra practice, this is a great opportunity for them. Please have your players at the fields by 6:00 PM to get them checked in. If players show up late, they may not get to take part in all the stations. Also, coaches, this is another opportunity to earn an extra Volunteer Point for helping out at the Skills Clinic. The more coaches we have, the better the clinic runs for everyone.
